Japanese- English translation.$B!J1QLu!K"-(B

Hannya-shigyo Sutra, Is this sutra$B!!(Ba$B!!(Bsutraofenlightenment or$B!!(Basutraofcurse?$B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(B
There are something wrong or strange about the usage of words in Buddhistscriptures. For example the way of using the word,$BKF(B MYAKU and KON.These two words have opposite meaning, like one side of the paper and flip side$B!!(Bof the paper $B!!(Bor like right hand and left hand.$B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(B

$BKF!!(BMYAKU means the righteousness in Buddhism and KON means evilsprit. These two words, each has a meaning of the right and wrong, or opposite meaning have been mixed and have used in the wrong way. These two words have been written as the same meaning for the last one thousand five hundred years and I have not heard the name of people who opposed to the usage of these words.$B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(B
The difference in the shape of these Chinese character lies in the component of the character,$Bb&(B BOU and$B:1(B KON. In Chinese character$Bb&(B BOU is the ideograph which represents the appearance of a large headed man, whereas $B:1(BKON is the ideograph meaning a man with a tattoo under his eye and being scared and getting away with making an eye contact with a man of wicked eyes. By the constitution of the word,$B:1(B KON means the state of wicked mind.
For example, the part we can find the usage of the Chinese character
MYAKU in the Buddhist scripture(Hannya-haramita-shingyo, or Prajnaparamita-hydraya-sutra) is the phrase Anokutara-sammyaku-sambondai,or anuttara-sanyake-sambondai which have the meaning of the supreme enlightenment.
Therefore if this is mistakenly written in the usage of the word KON instead of using the word$B!!KF(B MYAKU rightly ,we have no choice but interpreting the phrase as the enlightenment of the most wicked kind, which of course is preposterous in meaning.$B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(B
I don$B!G(Bt know whether there is a wicked kind of enlightenment or not. But this wrong usage of the word, using KON instead of using$B!!KF(B MYAKU can be found In various Buddhist scriptures such as follow: Hokkekyo-Nyorai-jinrikibon-dampen of 5th century housed in Ryukoku University; The stone monument of Ogishishuuji-seikyo-no-jo built in 672; Nara-Sumidera temple sutra in 8th century in Nara period; Shinsekishuji Hannyashigyo sutra written by Kukai, founder of Shingon Sect of Buddhism in 9th century in Heian period. Konshi-kinji-hokke-ipponkyo sutra $B!!(Bhoused in Kongoubuji-temple in Mt Koya; Konshi-ginji-hokkekyo housed in Enryakuji-temple in Mt Hiei;National treasure Heike-Nokyo sutra In Itsukushima shrine written in the latter part of Heian period, etc.$B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(B

Above all, it is almost impossible to accept the fact that in the stone monument of Shinkyo-sutra, which admires Gensosanzo, a famous abbot, the word Kon is used. This stone monument was built in 672 and it is hard to accept the fact that the word is used wrongly all the more because this sutra was written in China where people put much emphasis on the usage of words.$B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(B
The Shinkyo sutra written by Ryokan(1758-1831),popular Buddhist Monk in Edo period used the right word of Myaku in the Gyosho style of writing(semi-cursive style of writing).$B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(B
In addition to the above, there is$B#a(BShinkyo sutra with uniquly arranged Chinese-character, which was written in accordance with the image sutra-chanting by Sakakibakuzan, a contemporary man of eccentric character. In the sutra the word Myaku is used rightly.$B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(B
On the other hand I sometimes wonder why so many usage of Chinese
character Kon can be found in the transcription of Buddhist scripture even in the Exhibition of calligraphy of Chinese character in Kaisho style of writing in which exact correctness is required in writing like typing.$B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(B
According to the dictionary of Chinese character, there is not a block letter of $B`C!!(Bmeans the state of frustrated mind and$B!!h>(B means ceradine, apoisonous plant. In Buddhism there is a prase of Shoho-jisso which means all the things in the universe are true by themselves. Right and wrong are a set of words.
By joining our palms, we join both clean and unclean hands. Once in a while,it was popular to transcript as many Buddhist scriptures as possible. People used to transcript sitting up straight with the prayer that Kudoku, or good fortune will come true. Is it true that people can attain an enlightenment if people transcript the scriptures, even writing evil scriptures with purity and honesty? Or is it true that transcribing both right and wrong is the right practice of Shohojiso because people are sinful. It is indeed this means that right is wrong.$B!!!!(B
I wonder when, who and why put this word into Buddhist scriptures like a hacker in computer.$B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(B
I think ($BKF(B )Bokon has been mystery of 2000 year's since Buddhism introduced $B!J#t#o!!#C#h#i#n#a!K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(B
